What happens to my credits if a Seedance generation fails?

Short answer. If a Seedance video generation fails on AISeedance25, the credits reserved for it are returned to your balance automatically, so you do not need to contact support. Requests rejected before they start, such as an unsupported setting or a balance that is too low, are never charged. A video that finishes but that you do not like is not a failed generation, so its credits stay spent.

How credits move during a generation

  1. Before you submit, the generator shows the credit cost of the model, length and resolution you picked. A 5-second Seedance 2.5 video at 720p costs 1,000 credits.
  2. When you submit, those credits are reserved: they leave your balance before the request is sent to the model provider.
  3. When the task ends, either the video is delivered and the credits stay spent, or the task fails and the reserved credits are returned automatically, in the same step that records the failure.

What counts as a failed generation

What happened Credits Message you see
A setting or upload breaks a model limit Never charged The limit, for example "Duration must be an integer between 4 and 30 seconds"
Your balance is below the quoted cost Never charged "Insufficient credits. This generation requires … credits."
The provider cannot accept the request Reserved, then returned at once "Video generation is temporarily unavailable. Your credits were returned."
The provider stops the task after it starts Reserved, then returned automatically "Video generation failed. Your credits were returned. Please adjust your prompt or try again."
The video finishes Spent The finished video

The error message guide explains each message and how to fix it.

Where returned credits go

Returned credits go back to the same batches they were taken from, so they keep those batches' original expiry dates: subscription credits stay subscription credits and pack credits stay pack credits. In the rare case that a batch expires while its task is still running, the returned credits expire with it. Settings → Credits shows each batch and its expiry date.

A credit return is not a cash refund

Returning credits for a failed generation is automatic. Cash refunds are a separate process under the Refund Policy: we review duplicate charges, unauthorized charges and purchases that were not delivered because of an AISeedance25 error. Refunds are not automatic for completed generations or for results you are unhappy with.

If your credits did not come back

  1. Open Settings → Credits and check your balance and history.
  2. If a task failed but your balance did not change, contact us with your account email, the model you used and the approximate time of the generation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get my credits back if a Seedance generation fails?

Yes. On AISeedance25, the credits reserved for a failed generation are returned automatically to the batches they came from, with their original expiry dates. You do not need to contact support.

Are credits returned if I do not like the video?

No. A video that finishes is a completed generation, so its credits stay spent even if the result is not what you wanted.

Is a credit return the same as a refund?

No. A credit return puts the reserved credits back into your balance. Cash refunds are reviewed separately under the Refund Policy, for example for duplicate or unauthorized charges.

Can an invalid setting cost me credits?

No. A request that breaks a model limit, such as an unsupported length or resolution or too many reference files, is rejected before any credits are reserved.
